Alasana Camara is a PhD student at American University. His research interests focus on the geopolitics of AI and governance. His work examines how AI infrastructure, policy, and global power relations shape digital sovereignty, technology dependency, and developments, particularly in Africa. He is also interested in the political economy of AI, including data governance, digital labor, ownership, and control of critical AI infrastructure. Alasana earned an MA from Texas Tech University. He serves as a board member of the African Council for Foreign Relations (ACFR) and a research committee member of the West African Artificial Intelligence Advisory Committee (WA-AIAC).
