Burak Kadercan is a political scientist whose research lies at the intersection of geopolitics, international security, and emerging technology. His work examines how territorial ideas, nationalism, strategic culture, and institutional dynamics shape conflict, grand strategy, and world order. His current research focuses on generative AI, expert judgment, strategic reasoning, and knowledge production, with particular interest in how professionals and institutions can think with intelligent systems. He is the author of Shifting Grounds: The Social Origins of Territorial Conflict (Oxford University Press, 2023), and his research has appeared in journals including International Security, Review of International Studies, International Theory, Global Studies Quarterly, and Territory, Politics, Governance. Previously, he held academic positions at the U.S. Naval War College, the University of Reading, and Institut Barcelona d’Estudis Internacionals. He received his PhD in Political Science from the University of Chicago.
